Butterflies are suffering in one way or another as a result of the impact of man on the natural environment. Many species are now extremely vulnerable, some severely threatened while others are on the brink of extinction. Many species are now protected by law in various countries in the world. Here some of Red List of several countries. I hope that every countries will follow and try to  publish Red List of their own butterflies and moths situation to assessing the statues of the world's butterflies.

European Red List of Butterflies

The European Red List of butterflies published in 2010 by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and Butterfly Conservation Europe in collaboration with the European Union. It identifies those species that are threatened with extinction at the regional level in order that appropriate conservation action can be taken to improve their status.  The European Red List of Butterflies, funded by the European Commission, has revealed that 9% of all European butterflies are threatened with extinction at the pan-European level (7% at the EU 27 level). Overall, more than 30% of the 435 species assessed have a declining population.
