Lecture about Pharmaceutical Waste Management in Faculty of Pharmacy

Lecture by Dr Altaher Altabet titled "Pharmaceutical Waste management" in the Hall of Faculty of Pharmacy, Tripoli University, Tripoli- Libya, 29 September 2016, organized by Scientific Committee  of Faculty of Pharmacy.

 

The lecture covers several points related to the management of pharmaceutical waste as the following:

1. General definition of medical waste and pharmaceutical wastes and how to they generate during peace, wars and disasters events.

2. Types of pharmaceutical waste  and sources of pharmaceutical waste throughout the year.

3. Examples of quantities of pharmaceutical waste generated in Libyan health facilities and in some countries of the world.

4. Reasons for increasing the flow of drugs to the surrounding environment.

5. Health and environmental impacts by pharmaceutical waste.

6. Treatment and disposal of pharmaceutical waste.

7. Recommendations for proper handling of pharmaceutical waste and other medical waste contaminated with pharmaceutical waste.

8. Disposal of chemical waste.

9. Disposal of pharmaceutical waste in households.

10. National program to collect expired medicines.
